John MacLeod

John Edward MacLeod age 91 of Amherst and formerly of Halifax passed away peacefully while surrounded by his beloved family on Saturday morning, July 28, 2012 at the Northumberland Hall in Amherst, NS.
Born August 19, 1920 in Boston, Mass, U.S, he was a son of the late Edward and Katherine (MacCusbie) MacLeod.
John had a great passion for restoring vehicles, but his greatest love was for his family. He worked for Halifax Dockyard for over thirty years. Later he enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and crokinole with family and friends.
John will be lovingly remembered by his only daughter, Linda Borne; beloved granddaughters, Trisha (Colin) Brown, and Jennifer Borne all of Amherst; special great grandchildren, Chelsey and Colson; also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
John was the last surviving member of his immediate family and was predeceased by his much adored wife the former, Vera Scott; son, Brian in infancy; as well as his brothers, Earle and Roy.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906). Funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. from Campbell’s Chapel with Rev. Linda Fillmore officiating. Interment will take place in the Fairview Cemetery in Halifax, NS, following the reception.
If so desire, memorial donations in John’s memory may be made to the Amherst Wesleyan Church or the Diabetic Association.
