Doris Kathleen Martin age 90, of Amherst passed away on Sunday, July 29, 2012 at Gables Lodge in Amherst.
Born September 17, 1921 in Amherst, Doris was a daughter of the late Fred and Grace (Brothers) Joseph.
In her younger years Doris played Softball and hockey. Later in life she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles and crafts.
During the Second World War, Doris worked at the Aircraft Factory in Amherst.
Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lynn (Darrell) Jones and Holly Martin both of Amherst; two grandchildren, Gregory (Vanessa) Jones and Christa (Scott) Crawford; three great grandchildren, Jordan, Isaiah and Alicia; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Doris was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; daughter, Sandra and son, Larry; sisters, Delma Gero, Evelyn Beavies and Ruth Joseph; brothers, Earl, Everett, Leon and Borden.
There will be no visitation by request.
Funeral service will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. from Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906) with Rev. Jonathan Cole officiating. Interment will follow in the Amherst Cemetery. A time of fellowship and refreshments will be held in the funeral home.
Memorial donations in Doris’ memory may be made to the Cumberland VON, Canadian Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
