Mrs. Velda Leah Milley, 92, of Phenix City, AL died Thursday, July 26, 2012 at Brightmoor Hospice in Griffin, GA.
Velda was born at home on June 17, 1920, in Fairview, New Brunswick, Canada to the late William and Leah (Goodwin) Fillmore. She was the sixth of seven children. Velda worked for 19 years as a Housekeeping Supervisor at Cobb Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, AL. She enjoyed reading and was a devoted member of Central Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Howard Fillmore, Verna Haskell, Isla Hodgson, Lorin Fillmore and Harvey Fillmore; husband Levi Milley; her infant son, Charles Robert Milley.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Roger Moore; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Denise and Jonathon Leak and four great-grandchildren: Lauren, Bethany, Ethan and Joshua Leak; and sister, Erma Kierstead of New Brunswick, Canada.
The Funeral is scheduled for Monday, July 30, 2012 at 2:00pm EST, at Vance Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the Rev. Dexter James will officiate. The visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 29, 2012, from 4-6 pm EST and will be held at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.
