It is with heavy hearts, that we announce the sudden passing of our son, brother, uncle and friend, Gordie Quigley of Wood Avenue, on Tuesday, July 31, 2012, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, Gordie was the youngest son of Terry (MacDonald) Quigley and the late Billy Quigley.
Gordie ‘Sweet Lips,’ was compassionate, funny, charismatic, charming, hard working, outspoken and had a very giving soul. He was an instant friend to everyone he met and was endlessly generous to his family and friends.
Gordie loved to spend time with his girlfriend, Jen McNeil and her daughter, Zoe. He loved getting to know his new nephew, Liam and always enjoyed working, especially with his brothers, David, Willie and Matt. Gordie lived to spend time with his family and friends and to make people around him happy.
He was employed in the oil and gas industry in Alberta.
Gordie is survived by his loving mother, Terry and her loving soulmate, Joe MacLean, who he loved to tease and make laugh. He is also survived by his three brothers, David, Willie and Matt, whom he adored. Gordie is survived by his only sister-in-law, Alicia and his little buddy, Liam. Also left to mourn his passing are his grandmother, Dorothy Quigley, his loving girlfriend, Jen and her special little girl, Zoe. There are many family and friends from afar who are travelling home to say their goodbyes to their loving friend.
Gordie was predeceased by his father, Billy, whom he deeply loved, his maternal grandparents, John O. and Betty MacDonald, paternal grandfather, John Quigley and his uncle, David Quigley.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home in New Waterford. The funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Ray Huntley, is Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard Church followed by interment in Mount Carmel Cemetery. All are invited to Gordie’s home on 3352 Wood Ave. for a reception.
In lieu of flowers, Gordie’s family requests donations to be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association.
