BATIZ, RITA - It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of Rita Batiz, wife of Imre Batiz, which occurred on Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born October 11, 1934 in Moncton, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Marguerite (Chase) King. Rita was a woman of great strength, gentle kindness, and endurance who was the pillar of her family. She loved the outdoors, flowers and gardening and took great pleasure in her grandchildren and the birth of her only great-grandchild. Besides her husband Imre, she is survived by her children Kathy (Wayne) Gallant of Rothesay, James (Jill) Batiz of Saint John, Maria (Vernon) Shaw of Rothesay and Eva (Trevor) Batiz of Halifax, NS; grandchildren Jeremy, Jonathan, Jaclyn, Mindy, Keith, Jillian and Kate; great-granddaughter Keira; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
Following cremation, visitation will be held at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Monday August 13, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday August 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place on Wednesday, August 15th, 2012 in St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Moncton at 1 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation. www.fundyfuneralhome.com
