Michael Williams, age 91, of Wilson Avenue, New Waterford, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, Michael was the son of the late Edward and Charlotte (Hall) Williams.
Michael was a coal miner for 33 years.
He was a member of the former St. Agnes parish as well as the last surviving member of his immediate family. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing cards (tarabish, poker, 45s, solitaire). He loved to entertain as well as write songs and poetry; but his greatest passion was playing the harmonica.
Michael is survived by three sons, Brian (Ann), Francis (Jeanette), Michael (Pam), all in Kitchener, Ont.; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Helen (Pasher) Williams in 2008, a daughter, Teresa, three brothers, Jim, William, John-Ed, five sisters, Theresa, Margaret, Ann, Vaughn, Beatrice and a great-grandson, Cody.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11 a.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, Fr. Ray Huntley officiating.
Interment will take place in St. Agnes Cemetery followed by a reception at St. Leonard’s Hall on Convent Street.
