WEST RIVER STATION -James Daniel Smith, age 76 , of West River Station, passed away on Monday, August 27, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Campbellton, NB, he was a son of the late Neil and Lillian (Thompson) Smith.
Jim had worked at Hawker Siddeley Ltd. and Lavelin until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, cooking and baking and working in the woods but most of all his greatest enjoyment was his family especially his children and grandchildren
He will be sadly missed by his wife Elizabeth (Baillie); daughters, Audrey LeBlanc (Keith), West River Station; Jean Paon (Ron), West River Station; sons, Wayne (Darlene), Calgary, Alta; Tom (Susan), New Glasgow; Jim (Margaret), Alma;; 11 grand children and 13 great grand children. He is also survived by sisters, Carol Kelly (Donald), Westville, Phyllis Smith (Gary Smeltzer), Union Centre; Sandra Ross (Neil), West River Station; brothers, Neil (Yolanda), Paulamond, NS; Roland (Pauline), Brampton, Ont; sisters-in-law Blanche Smith, Westville and Brenda Baillie, West River Station and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother Wayne and brother-in-law Tom Baillie.
Cremation has taken place. Visitations will be held on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville. His memorial service will be held Friday at 1 o’clock at Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with Rev. Charles MacPherson officiating. Interment will be in Hill Cemetery.
