Vincent Munro Watt
Watt, Vincent Munro– 88, Truro passed away peacefully on August 28, 2012 in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. He was born January 10, 1924 in Pictou. He was a son of the late James Burton and Christie Bella Jane (Munro) Watt. A veteran of the Second World War, he served overseas in the R.C.A.F. He was employed with the civil service of Canada in the postal department for 39 years, retiring in 1986 and was Nova Scotia’s last railway mail clerk. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro; member of St. James Presbyterian Church; a choir member for over 50 years; member of St. James Men’s Chorus and Senior Choir and enjoyed taking part in Male Quartets singing the baritone part. His main hobby was gardening and he generously shared the fruits of his labour with family, friends and neighbours. He enjoyed travel and spending time at the camp in Waterside. He will be remembered for his quick wit and humour. He was a kind, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by sons, James (Dianna), Dartmouth, Mason (Kirsti), Valley; daughter, Kathy (Robert Putnam) Watt, Truro; two granddaughters, Manda Watt, Truro, Tara Watt, Halifax; brother, Jim (Ann) Watt, Rothesay, NB; sisters-in-law, May Watt, Dartmouth, Mary Watt, Pictou; nephews, Peter Watt, Andover, Mass., Richard (Michele) Watt, Rothesay, NB, Robert (Erin) Watt, Kanata, Ont., Randall (Laura) Watt, Calgary, Alta., Mark (Janice) Watt, Kelowna, BC; nieces, Shelley (Patrick) Vickers, Dartmouth, Marial (Andrew) Sterling, Toronto, Ont., Darlene (Bruce) MacDonald, Deborah (Jeffrey) Mercier, both of Kanata, Ont., Deanne (Chris) Long, Rothesay, NB. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Helen (Rae); brothers, Earle and Robert Watt; niece, Jocelyn Watt; daughter-in-law, Janice (Conrad) Watt. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 31 from 7-9 pm in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. This will be preceded by a Royal Canadian Legion Branch 26 Tribute Service at 6:45 pm. Memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 1 at 2:00 pm, also in Colchester Community Funeral Home, with Rev. Jacquie Ross officiating. Interment will be in Bible Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
