It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Roy Davidson on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Roy was the son on the late Alex and Ruth Davidson.
Roy was self-employed as a carpenter and built many homes in the Sydney, Glace Bay area. He was also a journeyman pipe fitter and had worked everywhere from Newfoundland to Alberta.
He had many passions but his favourites were morning walks at the mall, swimming, and in his earlier years, he enjoyed many motorcycle rides with his wife, Marie and numerous friends.
Roy is survived by his wife Marie, of 51 years; three children, Joyce (Chuck) Nicholson, Rhonda (Corey Lueck) Davidson and Clinton (Tena) Davidson; siblings, Fred Davidson, Art Davidson and Jean MacDonald; seven grandchildren, Cory, Rian, Sean, Kelsey, Tyler, Caden, Jace and two great-grandchildren, Alia and Preston.
Roy was predeceased by brothers, Alex and Robert Davidson.
Roy will always be remembered for his laughter and love of life. His favourite saying was “life is good.”
We would like to send our sincere appreciation to the nursing staff in 4C and 4D for their wonderful, loving care during a very difficult three months. Also thank you to Dr. Ansari, Dr. Hewlett, Dr. Wong, Dr. Harless, Dr. Gracie and Dr. Abel.
Visitation will take place at the Sydney Salvation Army Community Church, Inglis Street, Sydney, on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, from 2-4 p.m. Funeral service to follow at 4 p.m. with Major Kent and Dena Hepditch officiating. Interment to follow in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
