He is survived by his wife Josette, his children Jarl Jr, Joel, Trine and Martin, eight grandchildren, three sisters, one brother and many nieces and nephews.
Jarl was born in Oslo, Norway on March 19th, 1929. Jarl's young life was shattered by the invasion of Nazi Germany on April 9, 1940. During the five year occupation Jarl did his part with the Norwegian Underground Resistance. After the occupation ended on May 8th, 1945, Jarl completed his high school studies and looked for new adventures. Jarl arrived in Vancouver in 1952 and found work as a logger and surveyor and enrolled in the UBC Law School. After graduation Jarl settled in to a life in Kamloops, BC. There he found employment at Kennedy, Andrew and Co. and beautiful days on the Rainbow Trout filled lakes of the region. Soon he met his wife Josette Brown, opened his own firm, and began a rich family life. His early experiences from the war never left him and the opportunity to make change led him to the Canadian Liberal Party where he served the party both Provincially and Federally. Jarl and his family enjoyed a glorious life full of Travel, outdoor living, education and growth. Jarl retired to a quiet life on Saltspring Island. From there he travelled to Russia, Norway, and Northern BC to continue his lifelong passion for fly fishing.
He passed away, a life very well lived, with his wife next to him in North Vancouver.
The family will Celebrate Jarl's life on the one year anniversary of his death at their Stump Lake Ranch outside of Kamloops.
