TURNER, GEORGE S. - George S. Turner, 76, of Forest Dale Home and formerly of Lower Coverdale passed away on September 6, 2012 at the nursing home with his devoted and caring wife by his side. George was born in Windsor, NS on February 8, 1936 the son of the late George L. and Ruby (Sanford) Turner. He worked as a teacher until his retirement, he really enjoyed his teaching career. He attended the First Hillsborough Baptist Church when he was able. He loved hunting, fishing and just being outdoors, walking in the woods in the fall was his favorite thing to do. In his younger years he was very active in sports and loved his hockey and baseball. He stayed an avid fan and enjoyed watching sports on TV. George loved his family and treasured all the times he spent with them. He felt very blessed to have such a dedicated wife stay by his side as he struggled with health issues, she was always with him and they would have been married 50 years on January 1st, 2013. He is now at peace with nature and God. He will be deeply missed by his wife and best friend, Sandra Turner of Hillsborough; daughters, Anna-Lisa Turner (Anthony) of Edmonton, AB and Rachel Turner of Edmonton, AB; sons, Barry Turner (Gaylene) of Victoria, BC and David Turner (Stephanie) of Calgary, AB; five precious grandchildren, Iliana, Sophie, Antonia, Rhiannon and Keiran; sister, Wendy Fesmire (Steven) of Halifax, NS; brothers, Richard Turner of Toronto, ON and Jerry Turner of New Glasgow, NS; sisters-in-law, Catherine Porter (Richard) of Moncton, Nancy Steeves of Moncton, Ruth Mather (David) of Tide Head; brothers-in-law, David Steeves (Linda) of Charlottetown, PEI, Michael Steeves (Elena) of Toronto, ON and Alexander Steeves (Shirley) of Bedford, NS. He will also be missed by several nieces and nephews.
Honoring George's own wishes there will be no visitation. A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 12th, 2012 at 2:00pm with Rev.Dean MacDonald officiating and Rev. Jack Allen assisting. He will be laid to rest at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens, Moncton, NB. Family flowers only please. Donations to the Gideons, Forest Dale Home Auxiliary or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
