James 'Jim' MacDonald

James 'Jim' MacDonald

Lieu de naissance : Whitney Pier, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada

Lieu de décès : Sydney, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 5 septembre 2012

We regret to announce the unfortunate and very sudden passing of a loving man who was a father, grandfather, brother, son and uncle to a great many. James Alexander MacDonald ‘Jim’ was taken to heaven on Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2012.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Doris (MacNeil) and his adoring children, James ‘Jimbo’, Betty, Laura Lee (Ron), J.R. (Kelly) and John (Danielle), as well as an extended fatherhood to Cheryl (Grayson-McCann) and Mark MacNeil.
He is also survived by his mother, Beatrice J. (Bonnell) MacDonald and 14 siblings, Charles (Nora), Sharon (George Sutherland), Terry (Valerie), Olive (Edward Mah), Robert (Geraldine), Donald (Mary Lou), all of Sydney, Jeannette (Roy Young), Marilyn (the late John Nunes), Burlington, Ont., Selina (Tom Woodworth), Joseph (Laurie), Rita Morrison, Hamilton, Ont., Esther (James MacKinnon), Balls Creek, Margaret (Darryl Diturbite), Montreal, Que. and Judy (Gary Boudreau), Evanston. Jim was the proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.
Greeting Jim, with tools in hand, are his father, Charles P. MacDonald, infant brother, Johnnie and another sibling in infancy. Jim was known and respected as a fiercely loyal family man, with a special bond with his deceased in-laws, John Hector and Helena MacNeil.
Born and raised in Whitney Pier, Jim was well-known for his stubbornness and abilities as a mechanic and body man, with the incredible skill to fix just about anything. He was an avid sports fan, mostly for the Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays, when he would cheer for them (in both, good and bad times) while enjoying a “cold one”. Jim was a man of a few words who truly defined what a “family man” was. From his putting together cars so that his kids could drive, to the cold, early morning trips to the rink as a parent and/or coach.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at St. Theresa’s Church on Monday 10 a.m., with Rev. James Oliver officiating. Interment will take place at a later date.
Jim touched the hearts of many and will be sadly missed by all who truly knew him.
Condolences may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or e-mail sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
