COOK, FRED G.D. - 1931-2012 - The death of Fred G.D. Cook occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Friday, September 7, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. Born on October 6, 1931, he was the son of the late Frederick George and Hazel (nee Baxter) Cook of Cookville, NB. Fred enjoyed the outdoors in work and recreation as a farmer and sportsman. He was employed with 'Armtech' for 40 years, from where he retired. He enjoyed summers at the family cottage in Tignish with the many family, relatives, and friends who will greatly miss him. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Reva (nee Phinney); his two sons, Daniel (Kerry), and Robert (Arlene), all of Williams Lake, BC; grandchildren, Sarah (Mike) Innes, Katherine, Steffanie (Christopher) MacLeod, Lisa, Frederick D. Jr., Emily and Meagan; great grandchildren, Lachlan, Kailen, and Indie; three sisters, Katherine Bryenton, of Kentville, NS, Constance Fortman, of Tara, ON, Norma (Ken) Barker, Of New Glasgow, NS; sisters-in-law, Bernice Snowdon, Nellie (Albert) Legere and Marilyn Phinney; brother-in-law, Vernon (Tammy) Phinney, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Fred was predeceased by his youngest son Frederick Jr. in December 2005; a brother Baxter; sisters-in-law, Shirley and Marjorie; and brothers-in-law, Ernie and Rae.
Arrangements for Fred are under the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-536-1300), from where visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm on Tuesday, September 11, 2012. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday, September 12, from the Main Street Baptist Church, Sackville.
