Trevor Aulay Peach, 61 of Glace Bay, passed away peacefully at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Sept. 6, 2012, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Aulay Peach and Reta (Smith) Layes. For many years Trevor was a faithful member of St. Mary's Anglican Church, Glace Bay, serving for a time on the parish council. As well he was a board member of Camp Bretondean, a camp for Anglican children and adults, in Mira.
He had a good soul and a generous heart. He could be counted upon to help others as well as his family, especially his mother, Reta. An avid supporter of the Canadian Blood Services, he received recognition for over 100 donations. From his family, he inherited a very strong work ethic, an ethic which he displayed in his occupation as a bricklayer. He was active in his community in other ways. He was a member of the Bricklayer's and Allied Craftsman local #1 in Sydney for many years. As well, he was a faithful member of AA. In the organization, he supported countless friends. Finally, he was, for many years, an active member in the Reserve Mines Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 002.
In addition to his mother, Reta, he is survived by brothers, Roy (Shauna), John (Cynthia) and Paul; sister, Nancy (Laurie); nieces and nephews, Angela, Erin, Brad, Richard, Tony, Leanna, Jennifer and Shelly.
He was predeceased by his father and his beloved brother, Terry.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. from Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Galce Bay. A funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from St. Mary's Anglican Church with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. Interment will take place in St. Mary's Anglican Cemetery.
