Pauline Ferris

FERRIS, PAULINE G. – It is with heavy hearts that the family of Pauline G. Ferris (nee Curran) of Saint John, wife of the late Garnet Ferris, announce her passing, which occurred on Thursday, September 13, 2012, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born on March 20, 1921 in Grand Falls, NB, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Elizabeth (Beaulieu) Curran. Pauline was a very faithful member of Stella Maris Church where she served on the Parish Council, taught Sunday school, and was also a Eucharist Minister. She was the hostess on the television program Catholic Focus for three years. She was the first president of the Court Fundy Canadian order of Foresters. Pauline was a member of the Irish Canadian Cultural Association of New Brunswick, Saint John Chapter and the F.S.N.A. (Federal Superannuates National Association). She travelled extensively to most of Europe, England and the British isles and also went on several cruises on the QEII and the Rotterdams’s through the Panama Canal, visiting several countries including Puerto Rico, Columbia, Jamaica, Mexico and New York. Pauline retired as a nurse at St Vincent’s convent. Pauline is survived by her nephew whom she raised as her son, Bernard (Laura) Curran of Halifax; and her sister Eileen (Ed) Jordan. She was predeceased by her sisters, Sr. Mary E Callaghan, Theresa (Red) Hepburn, Doris Gagnon, Marie (Louis) Martin, Dorothy Curran, and Hazel (Harry) Ballard; brothers Walter (Dorothy), John Bernard (Shirley), Lawrence (Roberta).
In keeping with Pauline’s wishes there will be no formal visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Stella Maris Church on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at 12:05 pm. Interment in St Joseph’s Cemetery. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424).
