MCCULLOUGH, BEVERLY “LEFTY” HORATIO - It is with great sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Beverly Horatio McCullough, after a brief illness, on September 13, 2012, at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born January 3, 1924, he was the son of the late Harry and Alice (Gesner) McCullough. Bev lived his entire life on the family homestead on Crock’s Point Road in Keswick Ridge. He was an active and devoted member of All Saint’s Anglican Church, Crock’s Point Road. Bev was employed for many years with Diamond Construction as a carpenter. He was a lover of country music, especially the fiddle. Bev played with the River Valley Fiddlers, and volunteered his musical skills at the York Care Nursing Home, to the church, and to anyone who asked. He was an avid Leafs and Jays fan and enjoyed woodworking, gardening and family gatherings. He was a Boy Scout leader and danced with the Elm Tree Square Dancers for many years. Bev was a two time inductee into the New Brunswick Softball Hall of Fame. He pitched with the Nashwaaksis Merchants and the General Dairies softball teams leading them to several championships. Bev is survived by his wife of 63 years, Eldona Mae (Seymour) McCullough, and his devoted children, Judy Hunter of Fredericton, NB, Janet (Gerry) Sutton of Kitchener, ON, Roger (Darlene) McCullough of Fredericton, NB, Angela (Darin) Shaw of Kitchener, ON, and Mark (Paula) McCullough of Keswick Ridge, NB; grandchildren, Crystal and Ashley Hunter of Fredericton, NB, Dylan McCullough of Fredericton, NB, Jeremy and Amy Sutton of Kitchener, ON, Shelley Tennant and Greg Hunter of Calgary, AB; several step great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; he will be sorely missed by his cat, Kitty. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Margaret Ross and Marjorie Seymour, and a son-in-law, Andrew Hunter.
A Celebration of Bev’s Life will be held at the Mactaquac Lodge on Saturday, September 15, 2012 from 6 to 8 pm. It will be a kitchen party atmosphere so feel free to bring along your musical instruments. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 17, 2012 at 2 pm at All Saint’s Anglican Church, Crock’s Point Road, Keswick Ridge, NB with Archdeacon John T. Sharpe and Canon Jon Lownds officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bev’s memory may be made to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation, All Saints Anglican church or the charity of the donor’s choice.
