GODIN, MARGARET - It is with deep sadness that the family of Margaret Hazel (Brooks) Godin announce her passing on September 14, 2012 at the Saint John Regional Hospital after a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and a brief illness. Margaret was born to Joyce Evelyn (Rowe) and Bernard Brooks in Sussex, September of 1944. Margaret is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 33 years Gilbert Godin; sisters and brothers Sylvia (Jerry) Mitchell, Dianne (Raymond) Arsenault, Paul Brooks, Susan Brooks, Joe (Brenda Craig) Brooks, Lynn (Brian) Stevens; step sister Pam (Ivan) Vautour; step-brother Mickey (Gail) Tait; sisters-in-law, Linda (Clovis) Hachey, Margaret (Doug) Parlee, Ruby Godin and Karen Midlige; brothers-in-law Micheal Godin, Paul Godin and Andrew (Rhonda King) Godin; nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by brother David Brooks; mother-in-law Frances Godin, father-in-law Maurice Godin; step-mother Margaret Brooks; step-brother James Tait and sister-in-law Mary Lou Brooks. Margaret enjoyed the many joys of her nieces and nephews. Margaret was an employee of Downey Ford at Haymarket Square in the service department since her graduation (St Vincent’s) 1962 until 1988. She was a passionate reader and collector, ready to discuss at great lengths any books she had recently read with family and friends. The joys of nature brought her much happiness watching the birds and deer from her special window and deck as well enjoying the flower planters and checking out Gilbert working in the vegetable garden. Margaret was enthusiastic about quilting and needle work for many years. Social gatherings were a special treat when family shared parties at her home, much laughter, tea and cake was had as they talked of the old days and fun they had in Sussex at the camp. Through her struggle with MS she had the pleasure of many loving and loyal caregivers, Lois Arseneault, Tabitha Maidment, Patricia Creelman, Karen Keating and Dr. A Kristoffersen and Mary Profit. The family would like to extend a thank you to all the staff of the emergency department and 5CS and to the staff of the KV Extramural Program.
