ORYALL: Pearl Oryall of Salmon Arm, BC passed away July 25, 2012, in Salmon Arm. Pearl was born June 23, 1916 in Alameda SK to John and Violet Moffat. She was the youngest of 11 children. Her family homesteaded in the Alameda area till she was 16, then moved to the Meadowlake area. Pearl went to Ottawa to work in an office in support of the war effort. It is there that she met her sweetheart Neil. They both continued to work in Ottawa and in 1946 they were married. After the war they moved back to Saskatchewan to homestead. Over the years they lived in Success, Shaunavon and Swift Current. Neil and Pearl had no children of their own. They loved their church, family and friends and were generous in giving time and donations to several charities and organizations. Pearl was the original recycler. Her basement was full of things she saved for her craft projects. There were hundreds of used cards, magazine pages she used to make decorated tins, beads for rope necklaces, and some sewing and quilting supplies, just to name a few things. She always had a craft project on the go. Pearl was always a kind 'and gentle person. She had a good sense of humor. Her quick wit and at times a sharp tongue surprised you when it came from this gentle lady. Pearl lost her sweetheart after 64 years of marriage, on Oct. 31, 2010. On July 25th, 2012 in Salmon Arm B.C. Pearl passed, peacefully away at 96 years of age. Pearl was the last of her immediate family. She is survived by her two brothers-in-law Don Oryall and Bud Brooks. She has many nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews. This gentle kind lady will be greatly missed. We love you Pearl. A memorial service was held at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Swift Current, SK at 2:00 P.M. Monday, September 24, 2012 with Pastor Greg Keil officiating, followed by the interment of her cremated remains at the family plot in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Swift Current, SK.
