It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Joan Marie Shepherd, 65, on Monday, Sept. 25, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, Joan was the daughter of the late Albert and Kathleen (Dunphy) Reno.
She worked for many years at the Rexall Drug Store, the Owl Drug Store and finally Sobey’s Pharmacy, all in North Sydney. She was a member of St. Joseph Church, North Sydney.
Joan is survived by her husband, Roy; her sons, Paul (Sharon), Sydney Mines, and Stewart (Charmaine), North Sydney; and her only daughter, Angela (Stephen MacIntyre), Alberta. She also leaves behind her five beautiful grandchildren, Travis, Alleigh, Autumn, Addison and Parker, whom she loved very dearly. She is also survived by her brothers, Earl (Sandra) Reno, Miramachi, Wayne (Phyllis) Reno, North Sydney; and her only sister, Clare, also of North Sydney. She also leaves to mourn her loss many nieces, nephews and close friends.
Visitation for Joan will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant St., North Sydney. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, North Sydney.
