New Glasgow: Leona Frances Levangie age 82 of Shelburne St. New Glasgow passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday September 26th, 2012.
Born in New Glasgow she was a daughter of the late Martin and Willena (Brown) Butler.
Although living in Pictou County since birth Leona was a resident of New Glasgow for the past 30 years.
She was a faithful member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church.
Leona enjoyed knitting, baking and had a soft spot in her heart for animals especially her cats Pepper and Border.
Surviving are daughters: Shirley A.(David) MacLeod, Sylvester; their children Angela, Allison and Roy.
Emily Rogers and companion Darrel Fraser, MacLennan’s Mtn; her daughter Sherry
Daughter-in-law Brenda Levangie, Black Point; children of Brenda and the late Frank, Brian, Ann and George
5 great grandchildren
Brother Carl Butler of Greenwood
Sisters : Hazel Kontuk of Westville, Sheila Denoon and Beverly Plummer both of Ontario
Also surviving are a number of nieces and nephews
She was predeceased by her husband Francis, a son Frank, a sister Lorna, brothers Harry, Elwood and Kenny.
The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and7-9 P.M. on Sunday in the H.W.Angus Funeral Home.
Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 11 A.M. from St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson presiding.
Burial will be in the Holy Cross Cemetery.
