COOK (Smith), Helen M. – 94, Vimy Court Nursing Home, Bible Hill, formerly of Robie Street, Truro, passed away peacefully, Friday evening, October 5, 2012, at Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born May 11, 1918, in Harmony, Colchester County, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Minnie (Pyke) Smith. Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Helen is survived by her daughter, Ruth MacMillan, Bible Hill; son, Lloyd Smith, Summerside, Prince Edward Island; four grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Seymour Smith; second husband, John Cook; one daughter in infancy; siblings, Alvin, Myrtle, Lawrence, Percy, Douglas, Russell, Ted, Stan, Nell, Kay, Verta. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Helen’s family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m., today, October 9, 2012, and where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2012, Reverend Roger Moore officiating.
