Our father’s favourite saying, “Time waits for no one”.
With great sadness our father’s time with us has ended. He left peacefully on Oct. 8, 2012, with great courage and dignity as he lived his life. It comforts us to know that he is now re-united with his loving wife of 62 years Maude who predeceased him in 2003.
Dad was born in Dartmouth in 1918, and was the last surviving member of his family. He lived the majority of his life in Louisbourg where he made his home and raised his family.
Joe was a veteran of the Second World War and a proud member of the Merchant Marines. He was a past president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62, Louisbourg. He worked many years for Devco and also enjoyed many years of retirement.
He is survived by his three daughters, and two sons, Betty, at home, Joe (Theresa) Texas, Anne (John) Alberta, David (Caroline) Mira, Marie (Jeff) Saskatchewan. Joe is also survived by his grandchildren, J.D., Josey, Jacalynn (Jim) and Chris (Candice) and great-grandchildren, Chole and Carter, Alberta, and Kayla and Kelsey, Louisbourg. Dad will also be missed by many nieces and nephews in Dartmouth and New York.
Visitation will be held at Stella Maris Church, Main Street, Louisbourg, on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday Oct. 11, 2012, at 10 a.m. in Stella Maris Church with Fr. Raj Officiating, and participation from the members of the Royal Canadian Branch 62, Louisbourg. Interment to follow in parish cemetery.
Donations to the building fund, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 62, Louisbourg, or a charity of ones choice would be greatly appreciated.
