MacCALLUM, WILLIAM (BILL) - It is with sadness that the family of William (Bill) MacCallum announces his death on October 4th at the Campbellton Regional Hospital at the age of 81. Born June 25, 1931, Bill was the son of Eunice (Jennings) MacCallum and Donald MacCallum and brother of Dave and Carma (Thompson; deceased). Bill is survived by his wife Regina (Jean), his daughters Jill (Stephen) Parker and Sally, his grandchildren Olivia and Liam, nieces Beth MacCallum and Jocelyn Thompson Ness, nephews Ken MacCallum, Gord MacCallum, Doug MacCallum and Colin Thompson. A native and lifelong resident of Campbellton, NB, Bill was employed with Canada Manpower and Immigration. An avid golfer in earlier years, Bill was a member of the Restigouche Golf and Country Club, was awarded a life membership for outstanding contributions to the Club and served as a member of the Board of Governors of the New Brunswick Golf Association. He was co-manager of the Campbellton Junior A Tigers, a team that went on to be inducted into the Campbellton Sports Hall of Fame. He was a member of the Board of Stewards of the First United Church, mentor for Laubach Literacy and a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Bill was an avid hockey fan throughout his life and enjoyed spending time at the camp he co-owned with a group of friends on the Kedgwick River.
The funeral service was held at Maher's Funeral Chapel Campbellton on Monday, October 8th at 2pm. Reverend Ross Wiseman officiating. Interment at the Campbellton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or to the Campbellton Minor Hockey Association. Funeral arrangements were in the care of Maher's Funeral Home, Campbellton.
