Jan (John) Adrianus Sitser

Sitser, Jan (John) Adrianus – 70 – Debert went to be with his Lord on Sunday, October 14, 2012 in the Moncton Hospital, NB surrounded by his family and friends. He will be dearly missed and is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Erma Melanson-Sitser; his children and grandchildren, Bill Sitser, Ont. and Ranine, Anya, John and their mother, Jeannine O’Leary; James and Lisa (vanderHeide) Sitser, Alton, and Thomas and Emily; Patrik and Anna-Marie (Sitser) Ebener, Switzerland and Deana and Claudy; brothers and sisters, Henk and Gerda (Sitser )Velthuis, the Netherlands and family; Henk and Alice (Sitser) Snoeijer, the Netherlands and family; Bill Sitser and Kathy Halvorsen, British Columbia and family; Henk Sitser and Margreet Molenijzer, the Netherlands and family; Evelyn (Melanson) Gaudet, Digby and family Eric and Millicent Melanson, Granville Ferry and family; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews of the Eisses family. Also his son at heart, Alexander Klink of Germany and family. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Ellen Melanson. John was born in Zupten, the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1959 with his twin brother, Bill. He began his life in Canada as a farmer and worked in agriculture for a number of years. In 1972, he began working for Kent Homes for whom he erected houses and landscaped all over the Maritimes. John was an associate member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 106, Debert where he was bar manager for several years. In 1985 he began working for Colchester County as a By-law officer. John had a great love for animals and continued his work until his retirement in 2006. Besides farming, John was passionate about singing, the Fisher Choir and traveling. He was a devout member and deacon of the Debert Baptist Church. His other interests included, hunting, fishing, gardening and soccer which he followed to the end. He could tell a tale like no other and will be dearly missed by those who loved a great story. We wish to give special thanks to all the nurses and doctors in the CCU of the Moncton City Hospital and to Guy and Lynn. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 18 from 7-9 pm; funeral service on Friday, October 19 at 2 pm, both in Debert Baptist Church, 1273 Plains Road, Debert Pastor Bill Martin officiating. Interment in Middle Road Cemetery, Debert. Donations may be made to the Lung Association of Nova Scotia or a charity of choice.
