It is with deep regret that we, the family, announce the passing of Isabel Baker, 89, of Seaview Manor, formerly of May Street, Scotchtown, on Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at the manor surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Gardiner Mines, she was a daughter of the late Helen and Joseph Gouthro.
Isabel was employed for 30 years at the Nova-Rite dry cleaners in New Waterford.
She was a kind, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She loved to play cards and write poetry.
Isabel is survived by her husband, Frederick Alexander Baker; son, Sam, Grand Mira North; daughters, Barbara Brown (companion Wilfred Cooke), Alice (Mrs. John Newman), both of New Waterford; five grandchildren, Brian, Jason, John, Jeffery, Jennifer; three great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Landon and Abby; sister, Christina (Earl, deceased) Burke, New Waterford.
Isabel is predeceased by sisters, Hester (Mrs. Joe Perfect), Mary (Mrs. Pat O’Brien), Alice (Mrs. Walter MacDonald), Catherine (Mrs. Joe Boutilier), Elizabeth (Mrs. Charles Boutilier), Rose (Mrs. Richard Geddes), brothers, John, Frederick 'Teddy,' Henry Gouthro and a foster brother, Sonny Gouthro.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford.
A funeral service will be held Monday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel with Fr. Ray Huntley officiating. Burial will follow in St. James Parish Cemetery, Gardiner Mines.
