It is with great sadness and a heavy heart we the family of Cherry Irene Madonna Sparkes announce her passing on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 in the Pallitive Care Unit of Western Memorial Hospital at the age of 65 years. Cherry (Chig to those who knew her best) departed this world surrounded by her loving family and in the company of her clergy. Chig was born and raised in Deer Lake the eldest daughter of Elijah & Amelia Anstey. She went on to marry the love of her life husband Milton Sparkes and together they built a wonderful legacy of family, friends and laughter. Leaving to celebrate her life and keep her memory alive are her husband of 47 years Milton, the light of her life sons Brad of Deer Lake, Brent (Jennifer) of St. John's. sisters Vera Croucher of Deer Lake, Dorothy McMillian (Dave) of Port Aux Basques. Brothers Milton (Roberta) of Lethbridge, Albert (Sharon) of Deer Lake, Sean (Ruth) of Kincardin, Ontario, sisters-in-law Betty Guy (David) of Deer Lake, Doris Park (Harry) of Reidville, June Sparkes, of Deer Lake, brothers-in-law Bud (Lorraine), Leslie (Nancy) all of Deer Lake. Special nephew Clarence Anstey and family, as well as a large circle of nieces & nephews. She was Aunt Chiggie to them all. Numerous cousins, friends and Top Pals, NL 814. Predeceased by her infant daughter Madonna, parents Elijah & Amelia brother Clarence, parents-in-law Morgan & Monica Sparkes, brother-in-law Russell, sisters-in-law Edna Affleck and Beverly Sparkes. Visitation will take place from Parsons Funeral Home & Chapel, 63 Northmain Street Deer Lake Friday, October 26th, 2012 from the hours of 7-9 pm. Saturday 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Funeral service will take place on Sunday at 2:00 pm. from the Salvation Army Church in Deer Lake with Majors Wayne & BettyAnn Pike officiating.
