Lieu de naissance : SYDNEY, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de naissance : 20 novembre 1920

Lieu de décès : SYDNEY, Nouvelle Ecosse, Canada
Date de décès : 29 octobre 2012

It is with great sadness that we, the family of Anthony Joseph 'Tony' Pino, say good bye to a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and true friend to all who knew him. Tony passed in the same way he spent his life, with a great sense of humour, on Monday, Oct. 29, 2012, surrounded by his family, whom he fiercely loved and cherished.
An avid sportsman, Tony was a longtime fastball coach and regular at C200 for both the Cape Breton Oilers and the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, but his true devotion was the Toronto Blue Jays as well as the Toronto Maple Leafs. A fisherman who spent many days on the lakes and rivers of Cape Breton, he was once quoted after having not fished for quite some time as saying “the fish of Cape Breton are safe today.”
Tony spent many years employed by both Atlantic Springs and General Instruments, but most will remember him as a conscientious jeweler who would never turn away a chance to work on any type of timepiece.
Born in Sydney, Nov. 20, 1920, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Anna Maria (Congiu) Pino. A member of St. Theresa's parish.
He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, the former Annie Rose LeBlanc; five brothers, Johnnie, Joe, Americo, Mario and Rudy as well as four sisters, Rita LeBrun, Adeline King, Matilda Epifano and Frances Baryluk.
Tony is survived by his sons, Eddie, Harry, Gerald (Karen) and Bernie (Annette), all of Sydney, Joseph (Claudette), London, Ont.; as well as his only daughter, Beverly (Johnny) Wall, Etobicoke, Ont.; longtime friend and companion, Yvonne Dearing, Glace Bay; sisters, Virgina (George) Pike and Germaine Jacobs, both of Sydney; Margaret (Michael) Parks of Scotchlake; Cecilia (Albert) Frances, New Jersey and Rose (Peter) Bertolo of Stoney Creek, Ont. His memory will also live on through his many surviving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation for the late Mr. Tony Pino will take place at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Thursday, Nov. 1 from 6-9 p.m. and the funeral mass will be celebrated at Holy Redeemer Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 2 with Rev. Paul Murphy officiating. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations can be made to the Cape Breton Palliative Care Society or VON.
