Frederic George Herbin
May 10, 1952 – October 28, 2012
Fred passed away at home on Sunday, October 28, 2012, with his girls by his side. Born in Wolfville, he was the eldest son of Gail (Harvey) and the late John "Jack" Herbin. He is survived by his wife, Camille (Rogers), Wolfville; daughters, Jillian MacDonald and Lorrie Herbin, both of Bedford; brothers, Peter (Chris), Grand Pre and David (Vicki), Lake Paul; and beloved sister, Pam. Also surviving are twelve nephews and two nieces of whom he was very fond. Fred was known to many for his great laugh which could be heard over the din at all kinds of gatherings. Along with being a lover of music and an avid reader – always buying the latest mystery, Fred loved sports, particularly his Leafs and "The Pack". He was also a big supporter of Acadia hockey and football and a long time member of Ken Wo Golf Club. In his earlier years, he coached minor hockey and played goal for the Acadia Old-Timers. He was a former member and a veteran of the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department. Above all, Fred was a devoted family man and his nieces and nephews will remember him as their very entertaining Uncle Fred during both Herbin and Rogers family gatherings over the years. Fred spent most of his career as a manufacturer’s agent in the jewelry and giftware industry. Throughout nearly 35 years he made many lifelong friends in the Atlantic Provinces and beyond. He was a well-respected colleague and his visits to various customers in this part of Canada were met with much anticipation and merriment, especially in Newfoundland. But no matter how much he enjoyed life on the road, he was always most happy to get home. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, November 1 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where a Celebration of Life Service took place at 2:00 p.m. Friday, November 2, The Reverend Sandra Fyfe officiating. Reception followed at Ken Wo Golf and Country Club, New Minas. Fred faced his illness with an attitude that was truly inspirational. Many, many thanks to all those who walked with us on this three year journey and especially to Dr. D. Rehume; Dr. M. McNeil; and Terry, RN all at the Cancer Clinic, QEII; VON Annapolis Valley; and especially good friend, Dr. Rob Gunn. Donations in memory may be made to the Wolfville Volunteer Fire Department, VON Annapolis Valley, Carey Me Fund, or charity of choice. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville. On-line condolences may be made by visiting www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com.
