COSGROVE, John Brenden – passed away suddenly on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, at Villa Acadienne nursing home in Meteghan, Nova Scotia, at the age of 82. Beloved father of Laurie Murley (Doug), Windsor; Kevin and Karen (Cameron), Mississauga, Ontario; cherished grandfather of Matthew and Erin Murley, Windsor; Teryn Fisher, Barrie, Ontario; dear brother of Brian (Rita), Dunwoody, Ga.; Ken of Victoria, B.C.; He will be sadly missed by many other family and friends across Canada. He was predeceased by his first wife, Gerta (Huber), of Mississauga, Ontario; second wife, Agnes (Chinery), of Hantsport; as well as his parents, Patrick and Olive (Twyman) of Montreal, Quebec; brothers, Desmond, of Burlington, Ontario; Donald, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. John was born in Alma, Quebec, grew up in Riverbend and later Montreal, Quebec. He married Gerta in Montreal and raised his family in Mississauga, Ontario. He worked as an Engineering Technician for CN/CP in Toronto, Ontario until his retirement in 1987. He then moved to Hantsport, Nova Scotia, with his second wife, Agnes, to be closer to his grandchildren. John was a member of St. John’s Roman Catholic Church in Windsor and St. Mary’s in Hantsport. He enjoyed reading, creating stained glass pieces of art, gardening, home improvement and hiking in the woods or by the ocean while exploring his adopted province of Nova Scotia. He loved spending time with family, especially his grandchildren. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. A private graveside service in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, will be held at a later date.
