Lorraine Rafuse

RAFUSE, Lorraine George -77 of Brooklyn, Annapolis County, passed away Friday, October 19, 2012 in Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Parkdale - Maplewood, Lunenburg County, he was the son of the late George and Gladys (Robar) Rafuse. Lorraine worked at Canadian Canners, Middleton. He drove a lime truck and oil truck, was a farm machinery mechanic and owned and operated his own sawmill, but was truly a farmer at heart. He was an active member of the Kingston United Baptist Church and was affiliated with the Christian Bookstore. Lorraine was well known for always being willing to lend a helping hand to his friends and neighbours, and his ability to fix anything. He is survived by his wife, Patricia, Brooklyn; daughters Darlene Rafuse, Middleton and Minette Monette, Calgary, AB; step-son, Paul (Rosemary) Ferguson, White Rock, BC; brother David (Irene) Rafuse, Teulon, MB; four grandchildren; one great grandson; nephew, Carleton (Joan) Fogg, Cornwall, Lunenburg County and several other nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by half-brothers, Milne Fogg and Raymond Tidd; step-father, Laurie Welton and his dog and loyal companion “Maggie”. Visitation was held from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Saturday, October 20, 2012 in the Middleton Funeral Home. The funeral service was held 2:00PM, Sunday, October 21, 2012 in the Kingston United Baptist Church and via webcast for family and friends that were unable to make it to the service, with Rev. Leon Langille officiating. Interment was in the Parkdale –Maplewood Cemetery. There were family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory were made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of NS; Lung Association of NS or the Kingston United Baptist Church.
