BLAIR, Robert Edsel “Bob” – 77, Truro, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Saturday afternoon, November 3, 2012, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro, due to complications from ALS. Born January 30, 1935, in Truro, he was the son of the late James and Truena (Smith) Blair. Bob was proud to have served his country with the Canadian Armed Forces and served three Peace Keeping Missions in Cyprus and Egypt. After retiring from the Army, he worked with Corps of Commissionaires. He was a member of the Army Navy Air Force Club and Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, Truro. An avid and passionate traveler, Bob enjoyed many trips that included: Mexico, Cuba, Dominican Republic and many cruises. Bob is survived by his daughters, Chryl (Gerry) Cassidy, Dartmouth; Lu-Cindy Wall, Truro; Jacqueline “Jacquie” Blair, Kanata, Ontario; grandchildren, Christopher Cassidy, Jessica Cassidy, Josh Wall, Jeremy Wall; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Alice (Mattatall); one daughter in infancy; sister, Joan Hart. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Don Rowe, staff of Floor 3 North at Colchester Regional Hospital for their exceptional care and also to Pastor Brian O. Johnstone who helped us through Dad’s last hours. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Bob’s family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2012. All are welcome to attend a graveside service 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2012, in Watson Cemetery, East Prince Street, Truro, Reverend Valerie Kingsbury officiating. Family flowers only.
