Jean (Livingstone) MacDonald, formerly of Argyle Street, then Tillock Drive, and most recently Steelworkers Lane of Harbourstone, Kenwood Drive, Sydney, passed away with grace, dignity, and love Nov. 3, 2012.
She was born at home in Low Point, St. Alphonsus Parish, the daughter of George and Maria Livingstone.
Predeceased by brothers, George ‘Dubby’, Jack, Frank, Charlie (Second World War), sisters, Mary, Clare, Josephine, Bessie, Sr. Rose, CND, Katherine ‘Kitty’, husband, John W., and son Andrew.
Jean is survived by son John Hugh, daughter Rosemary and cherished grandson Dr. Michael W. Aucoin and his wife Laura, several nieces and nephews, cousins.
Jean worked at the Royal Bank, George and Townsend streets, then for several years in the office of C&G MacLeod Ltd., also at Sydney Kinsmen Resource Centre. She retired from there several years ago to enjoy travelling, family, friends and volunteering at the Resource Centre and Sydney Tax Service.
Jean was a kind and loyal friend, a dedicated daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt and grandmother. Gentle and kind with all of God’s creatures, courageous and true, a devout Catholic, strong and well grounded in faith, hope and love, and very proud of grandson Michael.
Visitation Tuesday, Nov. 6 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Welton Street, Sydney. The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 7 at Sacred Heart Church, Sydney, with Fr. Paul McGillvray officiating.
