B. A. "Scoop" Fredstrom

FREDSTROM, B. A. "SCOOP" - B. A. "Scoop" Fredstrom passed away November 3, 2012. Born September 13, 1942, the third and youngest son of Malcolm and Audrey Fredstrom in Sandpoint, Idaho (USA). Scoop cut his journalistic teeth working on his high school newspaper before enrolling in the Oregon University journalism program. When duty called, he interrupted his studies to fulfill U.S. military obligations and was assigned to the psychological warfare unit. Three years later, Scoop returned to the University of Oregon and completed his journalism degree, then moved to New Brunswick, Canada, to work first in communications at UNB and later with the Province. In 1976 he joined McCain Foods Ltd. (Florenceville) as the company’s first Director of Public Relations, the position he enjoyed until retirement in 2007. Scoop’s sharp intellect, generous heart and wonderful sense of humour will be missed by many, but most of all by his wife Lore (in Hartland, NB), her children Anita and Mark Lubosch (Winnipeg, MB), sister-in-law Rose Fredstrom (Sandpoint, ID), and mother-in-law Helene Peters (Winnipeg).
Scoop requested there be no funeral/memorial service and no flowers. Instead, please send donations in his name to your local animal shelters. A celebration of Scoop’s life and achievements will be held in the near future.
