Sarah Katie ‘Sadie’ MacAskill, a resident of Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, formerly, Virginia St., Sydney, passed away Friday, November 9, 2012, at the Glace Bay General Hospital.
Born in North Framboise, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Christine (MacIntyre) MacQueen.
Sadie was a member of Bethel Presbyterian Church, Sydney. She was a retired seamstress formerly employed with Koolex Cleaners and Snow White Laundry.
Surviving are her daughter, Anne (Dennis) Gallivan, Sydney; sons, Neil Jr. (Joanna), Hamilton, Ont., Angus (Norma), Westmount, Wayne (Elaine), Howie Center and Harvey, Sydney; sisters, Annabell Campbell, Framboise and Mary Margaret MacLeod, Richmond Villa, St. Peters; brother, John James (Margie) Sydney River; 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Sadie was predeceased by her husband, Neil; sister, Mary Ann; brothers, Angus Archie and Jimmy.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Sunday 2-5 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Bethel Presbyterian Church on Monday 11 a.m., with Rev. Robert Lyle officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
