Edith Cavell Prestara, age 82 of Sydney Forks, formerly of Whitney Pier, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Whitney Pier, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Matilda (Digou) Sharples.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who loved to shop, knit and particularly looked forward to her Saturday night card games with family and friends. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Michael 'Mickey'; daughters Micker (Garth) Purdy, Dartmouth, Shelly (Milton) Cooke, Sydney Forks; also by four grandchildren Michelle West, Michael Cooke, David Cooke and Christopher Purdy; by four great grandchildren Riley, Darcy, Sophie and Emily and by numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by five siblings Joe Davidson, Alice Burke, Alfred Sharples Hannah Osbourne and Sirdick Sharples.
There will be no visitation for the late Mrs. Prestara. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 19 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Mary's Church, East Bay with Rev. Frank Abbass officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
