It is with great sadness that the family of Garnet “Churchill”Louis Paul Gouchie age 86 of Amherst announce his passing on Monday, November 12, 2012 at Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Upper Nappan, NS.
Born in Nappan, he was the son of the late Florence Gouchie.
Garnet was a member of the Canadian Army from 1951 to 1955 where he worked for the Occupation Force as an Armourer.
He worked for Enamel Heating in Amherst and later returned to school to become a machinist, later worked for CN as a Locomotive Inspector.
Churchill will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years Christa (Bartels), daughters Jackie Robinson (Robert Taylor) of Moncton, NB, Brenda (John) Shea of Great Village, NS, Angela (James) Corbett of Lower Five Islands, NS and Michelle (Christopher Page) of Ottawa, ON, sons Michael (Lois) of Five Islands, Garnet Jr. of Amherst, Walter of Amherst, Jeffrey, Harry (Connnie McCormick) of Amherst Point, NS and Peter (Annette) of Lower Five Islands, 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He is predeceased by his daughter Susan Harper.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with parish prayers at 8:30 p.m. all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, Amherst. (667-9906)
The Funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Amherst with Father Vernon Driscoll officiating.
Internment will take place at the St. Charles-Nativity Cemetery, Amherst.
