We, the family, regret to announce the peaceful passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Margaret Ann Ross on Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Marjorie (MacDonald) MacKillop.
Margaret was a dedicated nurse at Sydney City Hospital, with a career spanning from 1957-1984. A woman of many talents, she was best known for keeping many a baby warm with her passion for knitting and crocheting baby afghans. She was an avid Toronto Blue Jays fan, a joy she shared with her grandson, Bradley. She had a genuine love of animals, especially her long time companion, Tiny. Nothing gave her greater joy than spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her sons, Roy, Coxheath, Garth, Sydney, and Clarke (Lisa), Oshawa, Ont.; former daughter-in-law, Colleen Ross-Oram, Sydney; grandchildren, Bradley and Coady, Sydney, Ainslie Margaret, Halifax and Liam and Ian, Oshawa, Ont. She also shared a special bond with her cousin, Donna MacPherson.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday, November 16 from 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Saturday, November 17 at 12 noon, with Rev. Dana Feltmate officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the Palliative Care Unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
