We regret to announce the passing of John Joseph McPhee on Thursday, November 15th, 2012 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in New Victoria, John was the son of the late Douglas and Hannah (Gaulton) McPhee.
John lived in Ontario most of his life where he was employed as a crane operator. John was a very private hard working man who returned home to his beloved Cape Breton to retire. He loved animals, antique cars (his 1958 Ford Fairlane) and hunting in his younger days.
John is survived by daughters, Theresa McPhee (Rick), Ontario, Heather Haire (Dave), Ontario; son, Randy Gillis (Melody), Waterville, Maine; brothers, Charlie (Catherine), New Waterford, Bill (Debbie), Ontario, Martin (Kay), New Victoria, Gerard (Linda), New Waterford; sisters, Margaret Vardy (Lorway), New Waterford, Elizabeth MacLean (Hugh), Sydney and his four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
John was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Eddie.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard's Church followed by interment in St. Joseph's Cemetery, New Victoria. All are welcome to join the family for a reception in the parish hall on Convent Street.
