In sadness we share the passing of our beloved mother Paula. Paula passed peacefully on November 9, 2012 at the Finnish Manor in Burnaby, B.C., with family near, surrounded by compassion and endearing Finnish music and prayer, which meant so much to her.

Paula is survived by her son Jorma Jyrkkanen, daughter Hannele Davidson and son Kenneth Jyrkkanen and his wife Stacey. She also leaves to mourn her grandchildren Tamara and Kirsten Davidson (Hannele), Michaela and Arisson Jyrkkanen (Kenneth), and Celine Jyrkkanen-Vaananen and her children (Paula's great grandchildren) Nadege, Danae, and Alexis of France.

Paula is predeceased by her mother Maria, father Juho, husband Feliks, and all her siblings - sisters Aila, Maire, and Liisa and brothers Lauri and Alpo; also her son Douglas, daughter Leena, and grandsons Karl Konrad Nagy and Jeffrey Eric Jyrkkanen-Vaananen.

Mom was born in Finland and she immigrated to Canada in 1951 with Feliks, Leena, Hannele and Jorma, settling in Winnipeg, Manitoba where Douglas and Kenneth were born. She enjoyed skiing, the wilderness, saunas, baking and will be remembered for her proud independent character and regaling everyone with Finnish poetry and folk songs.

The Family would like to express deep gratitude for the warmth and compassion of the staff at Finnish Manor in their care of Paula.

A Memorial Service will be held in her honour at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 1110 Gladwin Drive, North Vancouver, BC, on Saturday, December 1st, 2012 at 12:00 noon. Send comments to be read at the service to paulaj@hdbd.ca

This summer Paula will be interred in Manitoba alongside Feliks, Douglas and Leena.
