Lantz/New Glasgow - Rose W. Rawding, 91, formerly of New Glasgow and Lantz, N.S., passed away peacefully on November 16, 2012 in the Magnolia Continuing Care Nursing Home Enfield, N.S. Born in New Glasgow, Pictou Co. she was the former Rose Brooks, youngest daughter of the late Stephen and Margaret (MacDonald) Brooks. A loving mother and grandmother, Rose will be remembered for her kindness and love of family and friends. She was a member of the Milford Lantz United Church and the Margie Roberts Church Group. She also attended the Trinity United Church and supported the Trinity UCW Ladies Group, New Glasgow. She was an avid golfer and former member of Oakfield Golf and Country Club and Abercrombie Golf and Country Club. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her winters in Florida. She was a beautiful person who always put her family first and displayed a zest for life. Her kind heart and generosity towards others will be forever missed by those she had touched. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Powell, New Glasgow; Gaye (Michael Ashley), Lantz; grandchildren, Jason (Tammy) Powell, Halifax; Dr. Joel (Kathy) Powell, Halifax; Alexandra Ashley, Toronto; Hillary Ashley, Lantz; sister-in-law, Barbara Marr, Halifax and four great-grandchildren, Spencer, Christopher, Brandon and Tyler. She was predeceased by her husband, Keith; daughter Sharon Fay; sisters, Margaret Francis (Mrs. George Patterson) Loretta and Nettie; brothers, Lloyd, Clarence and Stirling. Visitation will be held 7-9 pm Monday, November 19, 2012 in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New Glasgow from where a funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm Tuesday, November 20, with Lori Crocker, D.M., officiating. Family flowers only please. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Milford Lantz United Church.
