It is with heavy hearts and sadness we announce the passing of Reginald 'Rege' Aubrey McIntosh, Nov. 21, 1940 - Nov. 18, 2012, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with his family and relatives by his side.
Born in Glace Bay, Rege was the son of the late John McIntosh and Rita (Stephens) McIntosh.
In his earlier days, Rege was an employee with the Bank of Commerce, Regional Housing and Avco Finance. He spent the last five years working security in Membertou, enjoying his time there. Rege’s family, children and grandchild were his life. He enjoyed spending time on his Sea Doo in Ben Eoin and could always be found working on his crossword puzzles. He coached minor league hockey and spent considerable time working on his home in Ben Eoin. He enjoyed his evenings in the basement watching the news with his dog, Sandy. Rege will be remembered by family and friends as a person who was willing to help and having a great sense of humor.
Rege will be sadly missed by his wife, Shirley (Morrison); daughter, Robyn (Robby) Whittier; son, Dean (Veronica) Martinez and grandchild, Conrad Whittier. He is also survived by sisters, Carol (Louis) Cote, Oakville, Ontario, Claire (Robert) Hickox, Riverview, New Brunswick, Anne (Allan) MacPhee, Glace Bay, Nova Scotia and Suzanne (Michel) Dallaire, Trois Riviere, Quebec. Rege will be missed by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation and funeral service to celebrate the life of Reginald 'Rege' Aubrey McIntosh will be held at Pier Community Funeral Home, All Faith Chapel, 1092 Victoria Rd. (entrance on Church St.) on Monday, November 26, 2012. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 12 - 1 p.m. with service to follow at 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be served in the reception area following the service. Interment will be announced at a later date.
Donations in memory of Rege may be made to SPCA or Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care and direction of Pier Community Funeral Home.
