CHANCE HARBOUR ROAD – David Earl McSween, 64, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
David was born April 5, 1948 in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia.
David was predeceased by his parents Johnny A. and Mildred A. (MacLeod) McSween and wife Sharon (Livingston) McSween.
David is survived by his second wife, Verna MacLean, his sons, David and John; his four step-children: Victor (Mary) Walker; Patricia, Tina and Jeffrey Scanlan; his sister, Brenda (McSween) Skarott; his 18 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
David worked at the Michelin plant in Granton for many years and volunteered much of his time in the last few years at Suncatcher Kennels on Chance Harbour Road. He was known to many of the Suncatcher customers as “the dog whisperer”. David's quick wit and mischievous smile made all who knew him feel welcome and at home in his company. David was a master craftsman and loved working on projects of all sizes. He was an avid pool and guitar player. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his home on Chance Harbour Road. He especially looked forward to spending time with his lifelong friend Arthur Bingham. David and Art shared many adventures throughout their 50 year friendship and could often be found around the pool table discussing who the better player was.
A special thank you to Dr. Farrell for his excellent care and compassion during his home visits and for all those who visited David and sent cards.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A private funeral service will be held at the gravesite.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in David’s name to the ALS Society of Nova Scotia, the SPCA or the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society.
All condolences may be sent though the funeral home at: www.rhporter.ca
