James Hunziker

HUNZIKER, JAMES FREDERICK - After a long and courageous battle with cancer James Frederick Hunziker of Minto passed away Tuesday, November 20th, 2012 at the Chalmers Regional Hospital with his family at his side. Born Monday, April 17th, 1950 in Saint John NB, he was the son of the late Frederick Alexander Hunziker who predeceased him in 2006. In his early years, Jimmy worked as a welder at York Steel, and then a foreman at both Raich Steel and Minto Machine and Welding before becoming a maintenance trade worker with NB Power for the next 26 years. He had a passion for snowmobiling and was a classic hot rod builder. He was well known in the area for his 1927 Model T hotrod.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife, Marguerite (Gilbert); his daughter, Tammy Taylor (Dean) and cherished grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew of Point Lapreau; his chosen daughters, Lisa Spadoni (Mike) of Fredericton and Stacey Glenn (Dennis) of Chipman; chosen sons, Shannon Lyons of Minto and King Gilbert (Charity) of Sheffield; 3 brothers-in-law, Wallace Gilbert of Minto, David Gilbert (Joan) of Ripples and Gary Bunnell of Hainesville; cousins, Terry Hunziker (Faith), George King, Helen Guislain (John) and Marina Vautour (Fred); several nieces, nephews and many good friends. Also surviving him is his feline friend, Mini-Me.
Resting at Hogg Funeral Services (10 King Street, Minto) where the family will receive visitors on Saturday from 2-4 and 7-9pm and from where funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 25th, 2012 in the Minto Community Chapel.
