STOKES, PAULINE GRETCHEN (HICKS) - 1923 - 2012 - SACKVILLE, NB. - It is with great sadness the family of Pauline Gretchen (Hicks) Stokes of Sackville, NB, announce her passing on November 27, 2012 at Sackville Memorial Hospital, Sackville, NB at the age of 88 years. Born December 20, 1923 in Midgic, NB, she was the 5th child of 10 of the late Roy William Hicks (1898-1979) and the late Ada Alice (Hicks) Hicks (1894-1960) of Midgic, NB, and Hamilton, ON. When she retired she had been an employee of Mount Allison University, Sackville, NB, in the custodial department from 1968-1986. She had attended Midgic School. She loved going to bingo. Over the years she enjoyed making big meals and having the family all together especially for holidays. Her and dad had driven across the US and back across Canada. She has been on four cruises with her children and friends. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her seven loving children, Edsel (Shirley) of Grimsby, ON; Deanna Berry (Wayne) and William (Judy) of Sackville, NB: Paulette McCormack (Bob) of Hamilton, ON: Arthur (Gerry) of Lakeville, NB: Charles (Martine) and Sandra Crossman (Bill) of Sackville, NB: 27 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and a great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephew. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Edsel V. June 8, 2003; her son, Robert, February 12, 1970. six sisters, Elsie Troop (late Raymond), Hazel Hicks, Beryl Goodwin (late Carman), Muriel Wheaton (late Cecil), Bessie Sears (late Forrest), Eleanora Musgrove; three brothers, Denzil (late Mina), Basil (late Joyce), and Edgar (1st wife-late Norma Alger).
Pauline's remains have been entrusted into the care of the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (506-364-1300) from where a time of visitation will be held on Wednesday from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 2 pm. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Kidney Foundation, Heart Foundation or charity of choice.
