Norman MacDonald, 90, of Sydney passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Northside Community Guest Home with his family by his side.
Born in Southside Boularderie, he was the son of the late Murdock Grant and Katherine (Matheson) MacDonald.
Norman is survived by his wife Ina (MacQueen); daughter, Lorena, Dartmouth; son, Murdock (Heather Morrison), Marion Bridge; two precious granddaughters, Maggie and Molly MacDonald; brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Lincoln MacKenzie; brother-in-law, James (Jean) MacQueen; sisters-in-law, Annie (Mike) Penny, Effie (Donald) Ferguson and many special nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sister and best friend, Bessie MacKenzie, brother-in-law, Donald MacQueen and sister-in-law, Margaret MacQueen.
Norman moved from Boularderie to Sydney in 1950, not long after he began a 40-year career in car sales. Norman retired in 1996 from Scotia Chrysler — he was known as the man who sold everyone in Sydney a car. He was an adherent to Bethel Presbyterian Church, Sydney.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec 6, at 11 a.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Sydney, with Rev. Robert Lyle and Rev. Ritchie Robinson officiating. Interment in Black Brook Cemetery, Port Morien.
