Donald 'Donsie' Raymond Coffin

It is with broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Donald Raymond Coffin, 67 of Sydney on Nov. 29, 2012 in Halifax, surrounded by his family.
Born in Sydney he was the son on of the late J. Raymond and Mary Coffin.
Donsie was a kind hearted, quiet family man, with a great sense of humour. He was the happiest when spending time with his children and was extremely proud of their various accomplishments. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Donsie worked many years for Canada Post as a letter carrier before his retirement; he was well liked by the people he met on the various walks in the Sydney area. A gifted do it yourself person he was always available to assist family, close friends and neighbors with any of their household projects. Donsie was also an avid outdoorsman, who spent many years travelling the backwoods of Cape Breton with his friends on his ATV and with the Canada Trail Committee in preparing the Canada trial in Cape Breton Center.
Donsie was an incredible people person and was loved by everyone that met him. He will be missed by so many.
He is survived by his partner of 30 years, Sue MacDougall; daughter, Michelle; son, Bradley (Kristal); grandchildren, Daryl Michelle and Andy Coffin; sisters, Mildred (Frank) Nugent, Donna (Trevor) Everill; brother, Jack (Carmel), Bill (Carmel), Bob (Cheryl); former wife and the mother of his children, Mary Coffin; sister-in-law, Martina Coffin and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donsie was predeceased by sister, Elaine and brother, Carmen.
As per his wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation was held 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at T. W. Curry Parkview Chapel. A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. today (Wednesday) at St. Anthony Daniel Church.
Donations in Donsie’s memory may be made to the Cape Breton Regional Palliative Care Unit or a charity of choice.
