Isabella Rhodes
September 14, 1912 - November 30, 2012

Isabella Catherine Rhodes was born on the family farm at McDowall, the eldest child of Alex and Bessie Morrison. She passed away at the Saskatoon Convalescent Home on St. Andrew’s Day (, true to her Scottish heritage.) After high school she worked as a domestic at Manitou Beach and Saskatoon, SK as well as at Oliver and Vancouver, BC during the dirty thirties. During the war she worked at the M&C plant in Prince Albert. She married Fred Rhodes in 1947 and they lived together in Prince Albert. Her daughter Donna was born in 1948 and Isabella was a stay-at-home Mom. When she returned to the workforce, she worked for many years at Mont. St. Joseph. After Fred died she moved to Saskatoon to be near her grandchildren. Whenever there was work to be done, Isabella was right in the middle of it all. She had little money to spare but more than made up for that with her willing hands and cheerful attitude. She loved to garden, cook, knit, and play cards, and she was a real sports fan. For many years she was active in the King Edward Tenants’ Association. Isabella was always very involved in her church, belonging to the W.A. and ACW and then the Senior Ladies Group. She was her grandchildren’s greatest cheerleader, attending as many of their activities as she could. Isabella was predeceased by her parents, her husband Fred, and her brothers Campbell and Peter Morrison, her sisters Bessie Flanders, and Marion Aitken. She is survived by her daughter and son-in -law Donna and Rankin McClean, grandchildren Mary and John McClean, her sister Jane Bannerman, and numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Saskatoon Convalescent Home, 101 31 St. W., Saskatoon, S7L OP6. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5 at 2pm at St. John’s Cathedral. (816 Spadina Crescent East, Saskatoon). Arrangements are entrusted to Westwood Funeral Chapel. 653-3434
