ACKER, Cora “Margaret”, 87, Roseway Manor, formerly of Birchtown, passed away peacefully in Roseway Hospital on Saturday, December 1, 2012. Born in Shag Harbour she was a daughter of the late Charles and Ada (Swaine) Nickerson. Cora was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of the Shelburne Lions Club and an avid volunteer at the Birchtown Community Centre. She loved to knit and crochet and enjoyed listening to music, playing cards and bingo. Cora is survived by sons, George (Chrissy); Eugene (Chanah); Timothy Robart; daughters, Heather (Ivan); Elizabeth; Kim (Bob); Leona (David); Grace; sister, Mary Flemming; 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Charles; sons, Charles and Zenophen; daughter, Lillian and brothers Leaman, Bernie and Jimmy. Funeral service was held on Thursday, December 6 at H.M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne, with Reverend Norma Mitchell officiating. Interment in Mizpah Cemetery. Donations may be made to Shelburne Lions Club, Mizpah Cemetery or Roseway Manor.
