John Archibald "Archie" Laurie

Laurie, John Archibald “Archie” – 83, Truro, sadly passed away with his family by his side at the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Middleton, Col. Co., NS on Dec. 20, 1928, he was the son of the late Melvin and Beatrice (Stevenson) Laurie. Archie was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who lovingly cared for his family and friends. To his friends and family he was a gentle, generous man who loved people. He was an experienced sawyer and spent most of his career working in the forestry industry retiring from Riversdale/Sproule Lumber Ltd. where he worked for many years. He was a devoted worker, who received praise for his dedication and skill. In his younger years he loved to bowl. It was bowling where he met a lot of great friends over the years. He is predeceased by the love of his life and soul-mate Marjorie “Goldie” (MacLellan), Sept. 2012. They spent 59 wonderful married years together. He is survived by his daughter and best friend Shelley (Doug), son David (Shirley), grandson Erik and his “girl”, granddaughter Erin (Jody), whom he loved dearly. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and caring words, and utmost appreciation to Rev. Lori Ramsey for her compassion and kindness. Cremation has taken place. The family would like you to join them at St. John’s Anglican Church, 23 Church Street, Truro, on Saturday, December 8 at 11:00 am for a celebration of life service in Archie’s memory. Reception to follow the service. Interment at a later time. Donations in his memory may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, the Kidney Foundation, MS Society or a charity of choice.
