LINDSAY, Earle Douglas, Ret’d - With great sadness, the family of Captain Earle Douglas Lindsay Ret’d of Greenwood, Nova Scotia, announce his passing on Dec 16 2012 in his 81st year at the Valley Regional Hospital . He was the son of Mitch and Hilda Lindsay of St Stephen NB. His school years were spent between Dorchester, St. Stephen, and Old Ridge NB. Following graduation, he worked as a bank teller before joining the RCAF. Earl enjoyed 37 eventful years with the RCAF. Many will remember him from his postings in Canada and Europe where he made lifelong friends. He was always proud of his time with the Golden Hawks. An avid hunter and fisherman, nicknamed “Last Cast Lindsay,” for his reluctance to quit the days’ fishing. One of the great joys of his retirement was ability to hunt the wily ring neck pheasant with his dog Duke. He was known to his friends and family as a man of great moral strength and for his keen intellect. He will be loved forever by his wife of 46 years Peggy, the children of his oldest son, Allen Mackinnon (deceased); Paul wife Jillian great granddaughter Lily Ann and Darrel MacKinnon. Son, Derick MacKinnon ,Son, Michael Lindsay wife Susan, grandson Dustin, daughter, Patty husband Ralph Vandenhof, children; Jeremy Vandenhof & Nathan Vandenhof, wife Samantha, son, Mitchell Lindsay spouse Tamera Sherman, son, John Lindsay. He was predeceased by his mother and father and sisters, Louis Carter and Helen Draper. To his loving wife; he was her life-long, and steadfast companion who filled her being with joy. He shared all of his devotion and good humour with her and his entire family. A memorial service is planned for early summer 2013, with a private interment at the Morristown Baptist cemetery to follow. The family would like to thank all of the wonderful staff of: the Halifax Infirmary Cardiac Care Team and the Valley Regional Hospital, who cared both for Dad and family throughout his final days.
